Tamara Franklin
Tamara has been an Adjunct Dance Professor at the University of Memphis teaching Contemporary, Jazz Beginner and Strength and Conditioning for dancers since 2014. As a native Memphian with a background in dance, musical theatre, and fitness have led her opportunities to perform professionally with Modern American Dance Company of STL, MO from 2005-2009, in addition to freelance dance and choreography. Tamara has taught, acted, and choreographed with Hattiloo Theatre, Playhouse on the Square. Circuit Playhouse, the Buckman, TheatreWorks, GPAC, T L Williams Academy of dance, Briarcrest, Lausanne, Collage dance Collective, taught modern for Ballet Memphis, and many others. Tamara was the founding director/Choreographer for contemporary dance company Bridging Souls Productions from 2010-2018 where she and Steven Prince Tate taught classes workshops, and produced concerts and collaborated with other Mid-South artist..
Her fitness background includes titles in Pro Figure bodybuilding with IPE & OWU/NBA and she is a Nationally Qualified Figure athlete with National Physique Committee. She is a CPT with a focus in strengthening and conditioning and stretch and flexibility with NASM and she trains her clients at Better Life Training Fitness and Nutrition. Tamara is also a Level I Gyrotonic®️ trainer with The Gyrotonic Method®️, certified in TRX, trigger point and foam roll techniques, full-time certified pilates instructor for Club Pilates Memphis area locations, and Club Pilates MS locations. She teaches bikini, wellness, and figure posing. Tamara is happy to join the Grind Family.
Fun fact about her is she has the cutest laugh and she talks to her dogs like they are her children.
